Privacy policy

A short policy, because there is little to tell.

Dockaroo connects to the internet only to start your trial, check your license and check for updates. Nothing about your windows, your screen or what you type is ever sent.

What the app sends, and when

Dockaroo talks to our license server at three moments: when you start the trial, when you activate a license (and once a day afterwards to check it), and when it checks for updates.

In those requests it sends:

  • your license key (if you have one);
  • a one-way scrambled fingerprint of your Mac. It lets us tell Macs apart, so a key works on one Mac at a time. It cannot be turned back into a hardware ID;
  • the app version, so we can tell you about updates.

What the app never sends

  • Anything about your windows, their titles or contents.
  • Pictures of your screen. Window previews stay in memory and are never saved to disk.
  • Audio. Dockaroo never records it.
  • Keystrokes. Dockaroo never reads what you type.

On your Mac, Dockaroo stores only your settings and your license. You can take back any permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

This website

dockaroo.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. All fonts, images and scripts are served from this site, with one exception: the checkout page loads Paddle’s checkout script so you can pay.

Like every website, our server and our network provider, Cloudflare, see your IP address when you visit this site or when Dockaroo checks your license or looks for updates. Our server keeps it in its logs for a short time to stop abuse. We don’t use it to track you.

Payments

Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle collects the details needed to take payment and issue receipts under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address and the transaction reference so we can issue your key.

Email

We send email through an email delivery service only to deliver your license key (after purchase, or when you ask for it again). We don’t send newsletters.
